MP emerges as a hub of logistics and warehousing

Bhopal: On the second day of the Global Investors' Summit-2025, a brainstorming session on ‘Logistics: Connecting MP to the World' was held to explore the possibility of developing Madhya Pradesh as a potential global hub of logistics and warehousing. On this occasion, experts and officials shared their views on industrial corridors, digital integration, investment opportunities and expansion of logistics infrastructure.

Madhya Pradesh is continuously strengthening its position in the logistics sector by emerging as a fast mover in the ‘ Logistics Ease Across Different States ' (LEADS) Index. By simplifying the rules, promoting MSMEs and creating a favorable environment for investors, the state is moving towards becoming a logistics powerhouse. Madhya Pradesh is creating new possibilities in the logistics sector by incorporating energy efficiency, infrastructure expansion and cutting-edge technologies, opined experts participating in the debate.

At the beginning of the session, secretary, Narmada valley department, John Kingsley highlighted the current scenario of the logistics sector in the state and new investment opportunities. He said that Madhya Pradesh is moving towards a strong transport network, multi-modal connectivity and comprehensive development of the logistics ecosystem. He said that due to Madhya Pradesh being located in the middle of the country, it has easy access to road, rail and air connectivity Kingsley also referred to Mumbai-Delhi industrial corridor and Delhi-Nagpur industrial corridor and said that it gives investors an excellent opportunity to invest in developing logistics infrastructure at Gwalior and adjacent places or Jabalpur, Ratlam or Indore to take advantage of the increasing volume of e-commerce. He also apprised the audience of the incentives and subsidies being offered under the Logistics Policy of the state for development of logistics infrastructure.

NICDC and Chairman NLDSL, Rajat Kumar Saini gave a special address on the role of industrial corridors and digital technology integration in taking logistics infrastructure to new heights. He said that Madhya Pradesh is constantly working towards making logistics cost effective and empowering transport facilities more through digital means.

Deputy executive director, WAIPA, Dushyant Thakor expressed his views on the global investment scenario and investment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh's logistics industry. He said that Madhya Pradesh's strategic geographical location and developed logistics network make it attractive for global investors.

Secretary general of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport India, Sanjeev Garg, emphasised on innovation in the logistics sector and boosting the efficiency of the supply chain. He said that Madhya Pradesh has a strong possibility of becoming a logistics hub, which will provide smooth and cost-effective transportation facilities to various industries.

Vice President-Operations, Rail and Inland Terminals, DP World, Mahendra Birhade discussed the use of ultramodern technologies in the warehousing sector and the possibilities of multi-modal transportation. He informed that logistics parks and warehousing facilities in the state are being expanded keeping in mind global standards.

Regional Director (West and South) Flipkart Group, Mahesh Panjwani highlighted the development of e-commerce logistics and the impact of technologies like artificial intelligence in supply chain management. He said that warehousing and logistics are expanding rapidly in Madhya Pradesh, which will ensure an uninterrupted supply chain to the industries.

Dippy Vankani, managing director, Harsh Transport Pvt Ltd. discussed the possibilities of private investment in the logistics sector and effective implementation of the public-private partnership model. He said that Madhya Pradesh is working on favourable policies to attract private investment in logistics and warehousing.
