Tata Electronics Signs Pact For $11-Bn Semiconductor Fab Unit In Gujarat

Tata Electronics, Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing and the India Semiconductor Mission have signed a fiscal support agreement for setting up a semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat. Tata Electronics' semiconductor fabrication facility in the Dholera Special Investment Region will involve a total investment of over ₹91,000 cr with a capacity of 50,000 wafers starts per month. The government, through the India Semiconductor Mission, has committed 50% fiscal support for eligible project costs. Taiwan-based semiconductor manufacturer, Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp and Himax will provide the technology and execution support for the greenfield facility. The project is expected to generate over 20,000 direct and indirect skilled jobs. The facility will address critical global semiconductor markets in automotive, computing, communications, and artificial intelligence sectors.
